International Certification in Technical Analysis.
There are mainly two institutions which are popular world wide for their quality certification in Technical Analysis in the Financial Market :
1. International Federation of Technical Analysts which conducts online exam of “CFTe” Certified Financial Technician. ( two levels as follows ).
Level I: This multiple-choice exam consists of 120 questions covering a wide range of technical knowledge, but usually not involving actual experience. Previous exams are unavailable, but sample questions are included with the Syllabus and Study Guide (CFTe I). This exam is offered in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Arabic, year-round, at testing centers throughout the world through Pearson VUE, IFTA’s computer-based testing provider.
Level II: This exam incorporates a number of questions requiring an essay based analysis and answers. For this, the candidate should demonstrate a depth of knowledge and experience in applying various methods of technical analysis. The exam provides a number of current charts covering one specific market (often an equity) to be analysed, as though for a Fund Manager. In preparation for the exam, candidates should review the Syllabus and Study Guide (CFTe II). Previous exam papers are available on receipt of application and fees.
2. Market Technicians Association (MTA) which conduct online examination in “Chartered Market Technician (CMT)” Program is a certification process in which candidates are required to demonstrate proficiency in a broad range of technical analysis subjects. The CMT Program consists of three levels: CMT Levels 1 & 2 are multiple choice exams while CMT Level 3 is in essay form.
